Can I cancel my trip because I’m afraid to travel?

Last Updated: 1 min read

Unfortunately, fear of traveling is never a covered reason to cancel under a standard travel insurance policy.

In order to be covered to cancel, an incident must occur that triggers your policy’s cancellation coverage, such as a declared act of terrorism that impacts your trip.

Policies that include the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade may cover travelers to cancel out of fear. This upgrade is only available within 14-21 days of your initial trip booking.

Cancel For Any Reason covers up to 75% of the total trip cost while requiring that you cancel your trip at least 2-3 days of your scheduled departure date. This upgrade can increase your policy premium by as much as 40-50% and requires that you insure 100% of your trip cost.
