What if I decide that I do not want to travel due to terrorist threats at my destination?

While the threat of terrorism is generally not covered, most Trip Cancellation policies do include coverage for acts of terrorism. In order for a traveler to be covered to cancel their trip due to terrorism, a specific act must occur and must meet their policy’s definition of “terrorism” under the Trip Cancellation benefit. The attack must be declared an act of terrorism by the U.S. government or local government authorities.

Travel insurance is designed to reimburse travelers who are unable to travel for unforeseen reasons outside of their control. Deciding not to take a trip is not considered a covered reason under any Trip Cancellation policy.

If a traveler would like the option to be able to cancel their trip due to the threat of terrorism, we recommend purchasing a policy with the Cancel for Any Reason upgrade. In order to be eligible for Cancel for Any Reason, you must purchase your policy within 30 days of your first trip deposit date.
