As of June 5, 2022, there are no longer any Covid-19 related measures in place for travelers visiting Curacao. Previously, travelers were required to have travel insurance with sufficient medical coverage for Covid-19.
Although Curacao does not require travel insurance, Squaremouth recommends a comprehensive policy that includes Emergency Medical, Medical Evacuation, and Travel Delay coverage. This is consistent with our recommendations for most international destinations.
According to Squaremouth’s recommendations, travelers should purchase a policy with at least $50,000 in Emergency Medical coverage, in the event of an illness or injury that may occur during a trip, including Covid-19. Squaremouth also recommends $100,000 in Medical Evacuation coverage to reimburse a traveler’s expenses to get to the nearest adequate hospital in the event of a medical emergency.
Travel Delay coverage can provide reimbursement if a traveler is delayed for reasons such as an airplane mechanical delay or inclement weather. Quarantine overseas is still top of mind for many travelers. Most policies with Travel Delay coverage can reimburse the cost of quarantine up to a policy’s daily limit. This coverage can provide reimbursement for food and accommodations while the traveler is delayed or in quarantine.
If a traveler has non-refundable trip costs, Squaremouth also recommends a policy with Trip Cancellation coverage. This type of coverage can reimburse a traveler up to 100% for those expenses if the traveler has to cancel for an unforeseen reason, most commonly an illness, injury, or inclement weather.
