Last Updated:

Short Answer

Trip Interruption provides coverage if you miss a portion of your trip or have to return early from your trip for one of your policy’s listed covered reasons. This benefit provides reimbursement for unused trip costs, as well as any last minute transportation expenses to return home.

More Detail

Trip Interruption provides coverage if your trip is interrupted due to unforeseen circumstances that are covered by your travel insurance policy. This benefit can be triggered if you are late arriving to your destination, or must leave earlier than intended. Standard covered reasons include arriving late due to a delay of your common carrier caused by weather, or leaving early due to a death in the family. This benefit offers reimbursement for unused trip costs, as well as transportation expenses for travel back home.

Generally, the Trip Interruption benefit is 100%, 125% or 150% of your Trip Cost.
