I understand this is a crazy time. I purchased the insurance policy for peace of mind. I have been robbed by April of that peace. First of all, they didn't answer my call when I was seeking guidance on what to do after the president's announcement. I emailed the company right away trying to make a claim. I also called and left a message. I have heard NOTHING. Also, now according to their claim center there is no refunds due to Covid-19. I will not be purchasing trip insurance from April ever again (and I travel a lot).

We did submit a claim for "trip interruption" as we had to leave the tour in Murren, Switzerland due to altitude issues. We re-joined several days later, but had charges for a different hotel, etc., during that time.
Submitted the claim in October. It is still "under review." We're assuming that they're hoping we'll get tired of waiting and give up???

After 4/5 months, April finally sent us a letter stating they will not cover the expenses. I acknowledge that the reason they gave seems valid in that we did not have a letter from a physician verifying that my husband really was having difficulty breathing at the high altitude we were at. If anything like this should ever happen again, we'll ensure that we see a doctor ... and then they can pay for that expense as well.

I uploaded the documents 5 days, I see that no one has reviewed them as of yet. However, it was only 3 business days. April's claim process can be confusing and the people who you get on the phone don't know anything about filling out the documents.

The claims process was way too involved. I had to provide the same information via email with attachments and via document uploads to three different representatives from April Travel Protection - A Sales Support Specialist, A Claims Processor, and finally An Adjuster. At each time it was like starting the claim anew. The whole process took way too long and involved way too many parties. It felt like each layer of bureaucracy, each additional gatekeeper was designed so that we would get frustrated with the process and drop the claim. We eventually go our check (for $51) but it took tenacity on our part to keep the claim moving along.
The process felt like the insurance company only wanted to deal with travel agencies or people that had booked their trips through a travel agency. If you are handling your own bookings and making your own travel arrangements, I would recommend that you avoid April Travel Protection.

I am still trying to settle my claim. There is virtually no customer service. No 800 number. They only have an address for communications. they are slow to respond.

Our flight AA flight # 3816 from Chicago to Kansas City on 9/27/2019 was cancelled due to bad weather. By then it was too late for us to find a motel near the airport for the night because all motels were booked. We ended up sleeping in the airport We were re-booked for 9/28/2019 first from Chicago to Denver and then from Denver to Kansas City.
I filed a claim for the additional meals incurred as a result of the delay both for the evening and the following morning. The claim was submitted to the claim office on Oct 7, 2019. Despite several phone calls to the claim office and email, up to now I have not received any reply or answer to my claim which is simple and uncomplicated with all the supporting receipts attached to it.
We are very disappointed with the service of this company. Based on this experience, we will never purchase another insurance from April Travel Protection in the future.[
We hope you can help us rectify the problem we have.

Nothing was done on the claim for 2 months until Squaremouth intervened. This shows the lousy service of the claims department.
