    Our claim was handled beyond 5+....very happy with all our communication and expediting of payment of claim.

    I have asked twice and gotten no reply....since we have had a claim, may we purchase travel insurance from you in the future?

    We are very disappointed and upset with APRIL travel and with Squaremouth. It has been well over 2 months since we filed a claim, and they have stalled and then the adjusters denied our claim, unjustly. It is being appealed back to the under writer, but its still taking way too long, and I don't think they intend to pay us. this was a very costly trip for us, which is why we insured. We had booked a train tour, with live music on board, from Chicago to San Antoniao and back to Chicago. The train was the trip. However we had to fly to Chicago to catch the train, on January 7. there was a big snow storm on the East coast that day, and our flight to chicago was canceled, as were most all other flights leaving Hartford for the afternoon and evening. There was no way we could get to Chicago to catch this train and join the tour. April or the adjuster denied our claim based on the fact that the airport wasn't closed for 48 hours!!! When does that ever happen? But still, irrelevant to our case since even if the air port was closed for 12 hours, we would have missed our train departure.
    The adjuster was 7 Corners, ;which is financially linked to Squaremouth, so we feel that SquareMouth is complicit in this denial of our claim.

    April's 24 hour line emergency is a joke. I could not find some one to pick the phone for a while when I had a family emergency. When I finally reached the person, customer service did not care for my situation and did not return my call when promised. I had to ultimately work directly with the hospital at the time of discharge. It's been 2 weeks now and have still no idea on the status of the claIm,

    We were unable to travel for health reasons. A claim was filed with April by mail. They were contacted to ensure they had received the claim and they have. They are in process of evaluating the claim which, according to their customer service, requires 30 business days. We will be able to provide more information after the claim is fully evaluated and our refund is provided.

    My husband and I travel frequently; we are older, but have never yet filed a claim. Due to a fall shortly prior to our trip, we were unable to travel. The customer assistance at April was very good in terms of getting the documentation to me. I needed to call once for clarification; someone answered and was very helpful. Our claim was completed and in the hands of the company about a month after the incident. Within 3 weeks April had reviewed the claim and covered fully our losses. We have learned via email that a check is to be issued and received shortly.

    it was easy to compare different travel insurance using Squaremouth. APRIL Travel Protection is what I ended up purchasing and had to file a claim. I tore my ACL during my vacation in Puerto Vallarta, MX and had to see the hotel doctor. He didn't do much - just gave me an ACE bandage & prescription-strength ibuprofen & some sort of anti-inflammatory cream. Although having to gather the documents, fill out the paperwork, , etc was a bit of a hassle, it was easy enough to get reimbursed for the doctor cost. From the time I filed the claim to receiving the reimbursement check, it took around a month to receive the check.
    Highly recommend Squaremouth to search for travel insurance (excellent customer service & chat function!) and APRIL travel protection service.

    NOT at all satisfied with April Travel protection plan.
    New insurance buyers, please remember even with "cancellation for any reason", they will ONLY reimburse 75% of the refund amount(airline ticket cancellation), NOT 75% of the trip cost. Reasons mentioned in cancellations clause won't normally meet normal conditions. Customer care is POOR.

    STAY AWAY FROM APRIL TRAVEL PROTECTION.

    We thank our policyholder for addressing his concerns, again, after his recent claim settlement.

    All details pertaining to the optional Cancellation for Any Reason ("CFAR") benefit are outlined in the plan description of this website and also in the fulfillment documents sent via email immediately after purchasing the travel insurance policy. CFAR under the APRIL Choice plan provides 75% reimbursement of the pre-paid, forfeited, non-refundable payments or deposits to the travel supplier, excluding insurance premium.

    His frustrations were centered around his misunderstanding that insurance is not intended so that the policyholder can be reimbursed twice by two separate entities for the same monies. The policyholder was already being reimbursed by the airline for 75% of his cancelled ticket's cost. Despite those monies already coming back to him, this policyholder wanted APRIL to reimburse him for those same dollars. Instead, APRIL followed the rules of his policy which mirror all other insurance providers which was to reimburse him for the portion of his ticket's costs that were not returned by the airline.

    As requested by the policyholder, his settlement was processed under the CFAR provision and the reimbursed amount was based off the remaining costs not refunded by his airline. As stated, any reason cancellations (which do not require the policyholder to declare why they cancelled) are limited to a reimbursement of 75% of the non-refunded trip costs. In order to receive 100% reimbursement of the non-refunded trip costs, our adjusters would need to evaluate the policyholder's reason for cancellation.

    On 7/18/16, we asked the policyholder to provide a reason for cancellation so our adjustors could potentially seek a 100% reimbursement under the standard Trip Cancellation benefit if his reason is a covered unforeseen event (as outlined in the terms & conditions of the policy). Our team is still pending a reply.
