The cruise line cut the long voyage short, reducing the cost. Tin Leg was very fast at providing the new, lower cost for the insurance policy, but initially said I could use it only as an advance on a future Tin Leg policy. I requested a refund on the grounds that my husband and I, 80 and 73, might not be taking another cruise that qualified, and it was the cruise line, not our whim, that caused the shorter cruise. Happily, they soon reversed their position and gave us a refund.

Easy to reach, clear and straightforward to interact with, an altogether different experience than dealing with the airlines and credit card companies.

Prompt, clear and straightforward dealings by phone and email. 1portion of claim resolved readily and reasonably. However, I was advised to file a second portion, went two rounds of providing back up at underwriters prompting, only to be told in the end that portion of claim isn’t covered. Don’t know if I’m more troubled by being led down a path or by the claim being categorically rejected. Both sides could have been spared the work!

The travel insurance policy that I purchased with Berkshire Hathaway as the underwriter was expensive but they are highly recommended. They provided the coverage that I needed for medical, evacuation and cancellation. Even though I did not have to make a claim, I knew we were covered should anything happen. I would recommend this policy to other cruise trip travelers who want basic coverage for the important things and don't need a lot of the other benefits being offered nor want the policy offered by the cruise line.
