Buy travel insurance often and most times tin leg or a Berkshire Hathaway product because it meets my needs. First time I’ve filed a claim and though not completed, the filing process was relatively trouble free to complete.

Not too difficult to assemble required info required for claim. After submission, notified what to expect and happened as info provided.

Tin Leg insurance is a scam. We had multi-city trip and one of the flights in the middle of our trip has been cancelled by the airline. We had to rebook with another airline so we could continue our trip. We got a refund for cancelled trip from the airline and requested insurance to compensate for the difference between cancelled and rebooked flights cost ($115). We paid for the insurance $226. Insurance denied the claim since they only provide coverage "if You are delayed en route to or from the Covered Trip". This is unacceptable and looks like a scam. Stay away from this company!

Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating it must have been to rebook a flight during your trip and manage the added cost. I’d like to help clarify the coverage details based on your policy to explain our decision.

The Trip Delay benefit in your policy is designed to provide coverage specifically for delays that occur while you are en route to or from your trip, such as when traveling to your destination or returning home. You were scheduled to return home on September 9th and the delay occurred on September 7. Since the delay you experienced happened mid-trip, rather than during travel to or from your destination, it fell outside the terms of coverage under this particular benefit.

We appreciate the opportunity to review this with you, and we’re here to answer any other questions you may have about your policy or the claim process. Thank you again for reaching out, and please let us know if we can assist further.

Not a real comparison, as all policies are by same underwriter.

Claim in process for a trip I was unable to take. Email response was not precise enough to let me know whether the materials I submitted detailing my nonrefundable expenses was sufficient. Request for medical notes from multiple doctors is overkill. A single doctor's note from my *** should be sufficient. I didn't WANT to cancel this trip; an inability to stand or walk fir more than a few minutes, and instruction by my doctor to stay off my foot necessitated canceling. A note from my doctor to that effect should be sufficient.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties with your trip and the challenges you’re facing in the claims process. I understand that providing additional medical documentation can feel overwhelming, especially when your circumstances required a last-minute cancellation.

While our policies are supported by multiple underwriters, they all require official medical documentation for claims involving medical reasons. Unfortunately, a doctor’s note alone isn’t sufficient, as the claim review process requires complete medical records to confirm the reason for cancellation meets the “Covered Sickness” criteria.

Our examiner reached out on October 24 with details about the additional documentation needed, and we’re here to help if you need any clarification or support in gathering these documents. Thank you for your patience, and please let us know if there’s anything we can do to assist in moving your claim forward.

Securing the trip insurance was fast and easy. The price point was also very good and no issues when we had to extend the policy by two days. Just a very modest cost increase. Will definitely use Tin Leg again!

Having a WhatsApp number, in case of an emergency, when traveling internationally is a must and you do not have one.

Thank you for your feedback. We completely understand the importance of having reliable communication options during an emergency, especially when traveling internationally.

My claim was pretty small - just an extra night in a hotel and food due to 24-hour delay in our international flight. The website for uploading supporting documents and filing the claim was pretty user friendly; however, I felt some of the documentation requested was overkill given the size of the claim. But, overall I am satisfied since query emails were answered in a timely manner and I got there in the end. Would definitely have been worthwhile for a larger reimbursement!
