A little confusion about the insurance. We had a delay in our flight for about 17 hours because of a missed connection. The airlines fault. I talk to an agent and she said the only way we would have gotten any compensation would have been if we would have had any expenses. I did not know that I should have went out and bought clothes because we didn’t have our luggage for that amount of time. I don’t agree with that policy.

Time on the phone was very long. Agent did not know much about terms of policy and had to put me on extended periods on hold while checking.

Good. They were very helpful in answering several questions that I had. I also felt like they would have been good if I did have a claim but I am always thankful not to have one.

I purchased two policies to cover a trip for my family. The trip was a train trip that was cancelled by Amtrak, yet the insurance company has told me that I must file a claim under the travel delay section of the policies. Since it was two separate policies, it has become difficult to separate our expenses for two separate policies. That was a mistake to purchase the coverage that way.

Also, Travel Insured has sent two different forms and after telling me that I had 15 months to finish the claim, they have sent an email telling me I have 15 days or they will close the claim. We have barely been home a week although the claim was made in June, when we were on the other side of the country. We will see how this works out although I do not believe it will be to my benefit.

I won't be buying insurance this way again. Ever.

Fortunately we did not need any services during our trip, but their representative was very helpful when we had to change the name of one of our insured after purchase.
Square Mouth was very helpful during our comparison search for a travel insurance plan. I would definitely use again.

Travel Insured International was certainly not the cheapest option available to me - but this was an expensive trip purchased far in advance, and I wanted the peace of mind that I could recoup a significant portion of my trip should I be required to cancel for any reason. For this peace of mind alone, it was worth the premium.

While in Europe, a family member injured themselves and we had to make a trip to the hospital and I filed a claim. Positive: The claim was paid *very* quickly - transferred electronically to my bank account within a week. Negative: The website is clunky, and the amount of paperwork required for a simple claim seemed a rather onerous. But overall, I'd recommend this policy and carrier and would most certainly purchase coverage through Squaremouth.com again.

I felt relief knowing I had this insurance even though I never had the occasion to use it. There was a few situations that I thought “oh my gosh ...what if” as I was walking and tripped. I wasn’t injured but the potential existed. Additionally, I was around large crowds of people and the germs are never ending. Fortunately I didn’t get sick asI ensured I washed my hands frequently and did not touch my face or eat until I did.

I am not sure why a travel claims department is not open on a Saturday. I consulted with insurance companies for 20 years and we had claims representatives available 24/7. I guess in this digital age real human customer service is too expensive.
I did receive recorded instructions when I call the insurance company on how to file a claim. They were not really very clear or helpful, but I managed to figure out how to get a claim form and filed my claim via email.
I received an automated email reply saying the insurance company would contact me in 2-4 days. Fortunately, I have no immediate needs for the cash due me (cancel for any reason coverage, cut and dried) so I can wait.
By comparison a Shuttle Company in New Zealand immediately responded to my cancellation request, only $26, but they said the money due me would be refunded to my credit card account in 5 business days.
I love Squaremouth, great service to review policies and compare benefits and costs, but after purchase and filing a claim, some of your insurance providers could learn quite a lesson about customer service from the Kiwis.
Sad commentary on how really bad customer service in the USA is by using automated computer systems and replies. But, the longer they take to process the claim monies due customers, the greater the cash float is for them.
I actually was President of a insurance consulting firm for many years and we never would taken our insureds so much for granted: Different times, methods and values.

Having Squaremouth travel insurance gave us a sense of assurance that we would be taken care of if anything happened while vacationing far from home. There were 10 family members traveling together, ages ranging from 4 to 79, so there was that chance that something could go wrong health-wise. And we stayed in a rental home on an island with plenty of "unknowns". Knowing that the insurance was in place, and that we had the backup for emergencies allowed us to relax and enjoy our adventures.

Very pleased, with the way the airlines are jacking us around this product is very much needed!
