My flight was cancelled due to "technical issues," so we called the GoReady assistance line. However, we were told that our travel exepnses lost would not be covered, because they would only be covered in cases of "MECHANICAL issues." If the wording did not say "mechanical" exactly, we receive no payment. I read the associated documents prior to purchasing this policy, and had no idea it would be so restrictive. I spent $160 dollars to receive absolutely no coverage for my delayed trip, despite reading policy documents that make it seem like reasonable coverage will be provided. I will never purchase a GoReady product again.

This policy does cover expenses such as food, hotel, local transportation, & even additional airport parking or kennel fees due to ANY delayed flight of 6+ hours. However, if you the insured is looking to cover new flight expenses/change fees or cancel the entire trip outright, then the flight delay or cancellation must be due to weather, mechanical issues, or a strike. This is standard across the U.S. travel insurance industry.
In fact, most policies carry an additional timing standard where the weather, mechanical issue, or strike must delay or cancel their flight for at least 48 hours. However, this policy does not even include that timing standard making it better than most.
Issues with the airline such as short staffing or reservation system issues are not covered by any travel insurance policy that we’re aware of in terms of compensating for new flight expenses/change fees or a trip cancellation. The airline would be responsible in that situation for providing a new flight.
We tried contacting this insured to remind them that if they’re uncertain whether their situation might have been a mechanical issue with the airline, then they should call, email, or live chat the airline to clarify that. Unfortunately, the insured did not answer our call & has not responded to our attempt to contact them.

I called GO READY at the number provided to make a claim. They said the only justification for a missed connection was due to weather or aircraft failure. They also directed me to contact United to get a letter stating reason for delay.
I will try to follow up but unhappy they are not more helpful and seem to be looking for way to disqualify my claim.
Our United flight was delayed and the connecting airport (Frankfurt) was severely understaffed (only one person at customs) resulting in many missed flights. The connecting airline Lufthansa also changed the departing gate three times at opposite ends of the airport. We missed connection, and had to spend night in Frankfurt. I have the receipt for the hotel, it is a nominal amount (about 200 Euros).
Really regret this insurance purchase.

We are sorry to hear that Jeanne regrets her insurance purchase. While we understand that she believed airline understaffing to be something that travel insurance covers relative to being able to cancel your trip, recoup prepaid trip costs that were unused, or purchase a new flight, we can assure her that’s not the case with any travel insurance policy from any company in the U.S. that we’re familiar with. The standard reasons why you can receive that type of reimbursement relative to flight issues would be in instances of weather, mechanical issues, &/or a strike.
We do cover reimbursement of an unexpected hotel overnight, food, taxis/Ubers, etc. as a result of a flight delay (usually for 6 or more hours) for any reason. It sounds like she may be eligible for that to reimburse her for the $200 hotel night in Frankfurt.

I had no pre-departure contact with go ready prior to departing on the trip.
I guess the ***** is in the details. I purchased a go ready insurance policy for my daughter, her husband and their two children. In checking the policy items, it stated "$2,000 per person, $150 daily limit covered after 6 hour delay." I took that at face value and when their plane was almost 8 hours late, I took advantage of the policy and left two emails and one claim and I heard nothing back from go ready. Eventually, the emails were never sent as the email address was incorrect. I finally called and she reviewed the policy and asked for the "receipts for all their expenses during the delay." I explained to her that the policy did not state that it was for expenses. It was for the delay. She told me I needed to read the fine print of the policy. She then stated snidely that "we don't give out free money." I thought that was why we paid $230 for the policy to do exactly that. I guess at 79 I am still gullible enough to believe what I read. Again, "the details", not what the policy states on the front page. Live and learn.

It’s unfortunate that Judy misunderstood how insurance works & didn’t read the website or description of coverage documentation before or after purchasing the policy. This policy even comes with a 10-day free look period where the insured can receive a 100% refund on the policy if they review it & are unhappy with the coverage for any reason.
Whether it’s car insurance, homeowner’s insurance, medical insurance, or in this case travel insurance, it’s quite customary for the policy to only reimburse for expenses the policyholder incurs due to an insurable situation having occurred. In her daughter’s case, they did incur an insurable situation which was their flight being delayed. However, they did not incur any expenses for the inconvenience & therefore do not have anything to claim.
For what it’s worth, we did receive a call from the insured on February 7th (one day after the policy was purchased) so they could correct a typo in the name they provided. That would’ve been another opportunity to ask any questions they had about coverage.

Absolutely terrible, do not purchase. I submitted a claim and have not received any communication whatsoever in the 1.5 months since I have submitted all my documents. I have not been able to reach anyone in charge if my claim, including managers, even after calling and emailing several times. This is extremely unprofessional. If you want some false reassurance that you're protected when you're not, feel free to purchase this plan. Otherwise, please use another company.

I filed a claim via their website for delayed luggage. I filed it 48 hours ago. They have yet to contact me. But clearly they have the info because you contacted me. We will see if how well the claim process goes.

On my policy it stated “ The assistance provider will assist in locating and replacing lost or stolen luggage, documents and personal possessions.”
That never happened. They responded 4 days after I reached out for assistance via email for my lost luggage by just quoting my policy back to me when what I needed was help. Terrible customer service. No empathy. I will never use this provider again.

We are sorry to hear that Ms. Paz was displeased with our Customer Service Representative not expressing enough empathy for her lost/delayed luggage situation. Our agent simply informed Eileen of the benefit that would apply, the coverage amount she had at her disposal, and instructions on the information she would need to collect to present for her future claim. We will speak with that employee and make sure that in the future they ask if there is anything more they can do to assist while also coming across with greater concern for what you or other insureds are dealing with.

I thought I might have to purchase a new flight home from Dublin due to a ticketing error by the partner airline (I had booked with miles). I contacted customer service to verify coverage. Fortunately, the error was corrected in time so I didn't have to, but it was comforting to know I'd be able to file a claim and get reimbursed under trip interruption.
