Claim process is somewhat cumbersome. Their website submission could be improved. It's very inflexible in describing the documents you are submitting. Some categories don't apply and others that you need are not there. Agents contacted via phone don't always know the answers. They suggested submitting and then finding out what you did wrong. Doesn't seem very efficient.

My wife an I had to interrupt a walking tour in Switzerland when I was hospitalized for 3 days there. We first submitted a claim to April on line for trip interruption expenses (a claim for medical expenses was submitted later). We had heard nothing after 4 weeks, so contacted Squaremouth Zero Complaint. After their assistance, a claim adjuster from April (Kandice) responded and was very helpful. The trip interruption claim was processed in about 2 months. All in all it took about 4 months to process both claims. So don't expect this to be a quick process. First, the hospital in Switzerland took 7 weeks to send us a final bill. Next, since our April medical insurance was secondary, and we had to wait 2 months for our primary medical insurance company (Blue Cross) to process our medical claims. Only after you have an EOB from your primary medical insurance company will secondary medical insurance process your medical claim. Overall we were satisfied with April, but the process required time - more than we originally hoped.

After initially contacting April customer service, they promptly sent me the claims documentation that I needed in order to submit my claim. I completed the documentation and uploaded it to the portal as instructed on 8/20. According to their portal, files would be reviewed within 5 business days. It is now 9/16 and the files still show not reviewed. I have e-mailed and called my claims agent and she has not responded since. She has not replied to an e-mail, answered the phone, or called me back after leaving a voicemail.
Will definitely never use April Travel Protection again.
I have contacted Squaremouth customer service and they are stepping up in order to resolve the claim. They have been very responsive, I hope that they have more success than I do.

After initiating the Zero Complaint Review process, the claim was addressed in rapid fashion by both April Travel and SquareMouth. Very impressed with their support throughout the Zero Compliant Review process.

We appreciate Shane taking the time to submit this review and apologize if our service did not meet his expectations. Upon receipt of this review, our Customer Service Team notified the policyholder that we were still pending receipt of some supporting documentation. Shane was able to quickly provide that information after which his claim was settled within 1 day.

I would like you to know that I am STILL WAITING for the representative from April to contact me with a resolution on my claim. Yesterday for the first time she responded by phone to my claim being filed and my 5 phone calls and email, since the beginning of August!!
This company is terrible.

Since I happily did not have to file a claim, I don’t have much to report. I did have a few questions after I had made my purchase and they were answered promptly and politely. I picked the policy bc it covered what I needed at a good price.

April’s claim process is too slow, and there is no way to start a claim online. That is a major hassle.
They should be required to make online claim processing available.
