Very clear policy showing what activities are covered by the insurers. We were going on an "adventure" hiking trip and many companies would not cover the activities we were going to be participating in. Tin Leg site provided very clear coverage information to help me make an informed decision.

We had a airline delay. I called to talk to them about any costs we might have and what they would cover. The person I got was nice but not helpful in answering my questions.

We have now submitted a claim. Communication by email has been fine, but it is not yet approved.

It was a very unpleasant surprise that our unexpected costs due to an airline delay were not covered by this policy.

We did not have a claim so our experience was good. However, our friends had a bad experience that will impact who we use for our next trip. Lynn and Mary Evers paid the full premium earlier this year with only a $1,000 down payment. They qualified for coverage with any pre existing conditions. Soon after purchasing the plan Mary Evers had a medical issue preventing air travel. Tin Leg continues to request past medical information from Mary Evers even though she had pre existing med coverage. We have used this umbrella of companies for numerous trips but we will buy coverage from another company.

No problems with this policy. I have filed a claim on an earlier Tin Leg policy which went smoothly. I have used Tin Leg frequently. I have tried to change a policy on one trip that was cancelled to another trip, and Tin Leg will allow and help you do that, but be aware that you need to be in an "insurable" condition when you change or initiate a travel insurance policy. That is, no current health problems and with pre-existing conditions under medical control. Otherwise the insurance company can deny claims. So I get a letter from my doctor stating that I am in a healthy condition for travel before I apply for a policy.

For example: I came back from my previous trip to Bali with Covid. No biggie, $20 for a test kit and some rest. No claim required. But the fact of Covid infection would put me in an "uninsurable" category for applying for a new travel policy unless the Covid was resolved to non-infection. And being in an "uninsurable' category applying for a new policy would make the policy void if I had to file a claim.
    Just saying.

The process of filing a claim with Tin Leg was very straightforward. It took about two weeks for my claim to be paid out after submitting the relevant receipts and documentation. This was the first travel-insurance claim I have ever filed and I'm happy to say it was a much smoother experience than I expected. Because of that, I would purchase Tin Leg travel and health insurance policies in the future.

My flight was delayed more than 3 hours and because I paid for a hotel with points I was not reimbursed. I wish that was more clear in the beginning. Last minute points have value just like money.

I gave up on pursuing my claim because you were asking me to prove a negative which is nearly impossible. Try to prove that Airbnb did not refund me a night’s stay? Huh? Prove that a flight was cancelled? How do I do that? Never will I use Tin Leg again. Will go back to AIG where they try to help you recover your losses not set up roadblocks to doing so.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you had with the claim process.
I have discussed your claim with our claim team to gather more information about your claim. I understand that your claim is still in process and we require additional documents. In reference to you needing to "prove a negative"- your Airbnb booking confirmation which shows the cancellation terms and conditions would suffice. We apologize if that was not made clear. Other documents needed include your original flight itinerary, as well as contacting the airline directly to obtain the airline explanation. This is a common request to the airlines for travel insurance claims and they should be able to assist fairly easily.
I understand your frustration with needing to submit multiple documents to support your claim. Due to insurance regulations, certain documentation is required. Rest assured, we will do our best to expedite the process.
Your claim adjuster is available to assist with any questions in the meantime. We appreciate your patience and hope to make the process smoother for you moving forward.
