    I bought a Preferred coverage for a 30 days trip to India and Nepal, very expensive trip. 10 days into the trip I developed COVID, after isolating, I flew back to states.

    After recovering, I made a trip interruption claim with Generali. It took a month and a half, and a serious amount of documentation but Generali paid almost all the amount I requested.

    I would definitely use them again. They were very thorough. Based on the feedback here, I was careful using their website, read my policy carefully, and provided all the documentation they requested. I think they were fair with my claim.

    I tested positive for Covid on the 8th day of my trip and contacted 24 hr assistance to find out what I needed to do if I had to abandon the rest of my trip and put in a claim.
    I explained that I had to travel to Valencia in any case and requested a list of places where I could get a PCR test. They emailed me very quickly with a list of 3 locations, only one of which was in Valencia. It turned out I couldn’t get a test without an appointment.
    Fortunately, no was not that I’ll and able to continue with my trip. I’m not sure what would have happened if it had worked out otherwise.

    The company responded to the claim appropriately 45 days after the claim was filed. The claim for trip cancellation and trip interruption was denied despite the sickness that my physician advised me to cut trip short.

    Our flight was cancelled due to a small plane crash at the airport we were to travel into and we were told the airport shut down. Southwest would not book us on another flight to get us to our destination in time to make our connecting flights ( said they did not do that) and could not get us on any of their other flights the next day to make our connections. We had to spend additional money to make our connecting flights the next day and to not lose days of our vacation. Our claim was denied by Generali as it wasn’t an “operational issue with our plane.” I would think shutting down an entire airport would qualify as this clearly wasn’t a fault of our own. If this is clearly the case, I would not recommend anyone purchasing travel insurance and will not be doing so in the future. Have been on numerous trips and have never used the policies I have purchased.

    It took a while to access a live rep but we did and she was helpful. We have sent in all the information required (we think) and await our reimbursement. Unfortunately, my husband was hospitalized and we were unable to go on our cruise. :-(

    First, they didn't email me the policy details until I had to ask again after we departed. We didn't use their assistance during the trip, but filed a claim a week after we got back.

    Our passports were stolen on the trip, causing us to delay returning by 2 days, because of the time to travel to where the embassy is and get emergency passports. We filed a claim for the transfer (taxi) cost and hotel/food cost for those couple of days. (We were able to rearrange our return flight without additional cost.). We filed the claim over 2 months ago and have only received the auto-reply acknowledging the online submission. I emailed 2 weeks ago asking about it and...nothing. I expect some response, even to say they are still working on, to give a time frame, to ask for more info, whatever. So, as I plan my next trip I won't be using them.

    I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Generali has very narrow definitions of what they consider to be a valid claim. A tour operator canceled a trip and generali would not pay out on a claim. Trip insurance is the greatest scam. It is not worth buying due to the narrowness of how they define instances they will pay under. A country closed its doors and it was not possible to visit because the country would not let you in is not a good enough reason for Genrali to pay.
    What a waste of money to purchase this policy. If you used Squaremouth to purchase this this through they do not stand by the product they offer and their zero complaint policy is a joke.
