I almost had to make a claim due to illness. I phoned Tinleg and spoke with a very helpful person who was familiar with the policy, was in the U.S. and spoke good English and was ready to help. Very good customer service!

It would be better that you have informational teams on call 24/7 vs. Just weekdays 8-4

Very disappointed in reimbursement and explanation process. My husband contracted COVID and was too sick to travel home the day we were dropped at airport by cruise. Plus he was still positive and we spent 2 nights in hotel. TL indicated they would not cover the hotel. I got us the quickest flights home and at no additional charge but yet no coverage for hotel. Make sure you read the fine print.

Our luggage was delayed due to our flights being cancelled and delayed causing us to miss our connecting flights. We were traveling to Norway to cruise the fjords. Our winter coats were in our delayed luggage so we were unable to participate in any of our scheduled prepaid tours until our luggage arrived on the 5th day of the cruise. The following is the response we received from tin leg.

Updated departing itinerary for first rebooked flight from - Orlando - DC - This is needed to help confirm your updated itinerary trip itinerary.
Confirmation of what caused you to miss your connection from DC - Copenhagen - This is needed to help confirm your eligibility for reimbursement of your additional expenses incurred during this time.
Cruise line booking confirmation with dates, proof of no refund for missed tours, and proof of payment in the form of a credit card or bank statement for cruise - This documentation is needed to confirm the cruise dates, confirmation of the amount paid and not refunded for missed tours. his documentation is needed to confirm that no refund was provided. This can be obtained by contacting your supplier if you do not have this documentation.
Proof of no refund for excursion with GetYourGuide - This documentation is needed to confirm that no refund was provided. This can be obtained by contacting your supplier if you do not have this documentation.
Baggage claim form - This documentation is needed to confirm when your luggage was lost.
Luggage delivery confirmation - This documentation is needed to confirm when your luggage was returned to you. This is needed to determine if you are eligible for coverage under the Baggage Delay benefit.
Receipts for additional expenses incurred - You indicated that there were limited receipts available, however we only received a credit card statement which shows one meal expense. Can you provide any other documentation that shows the additional expenses incurred while you were delayed?
Would we choose tin leg again?

It was not clear when purchasing the policy that trip interruption required 48 hour interruption. I had a flight cancellation resulting in a 24 hour delay. These resulted in us missing an entire leg of our trip (additional flight not taken to our first location and additional hotel expense that were non refundable). In addition we had to purchase additional airline tickets to reach our intended destination. I will not be purchasing from tin leg again.

I will NEVER use Tin Leg again. My traveling companion Melanie Goering became extremely ill and was unable to make the trip. Tin Leg is putting her through **** to make a claim. She is so sick that she now has a handicapped placard and is unable to go out unassisted. And yet Tin Leg continues to ask her to provide MORE and MORE "proof". I totally understand reasonable proof for a claim for any insurance. But they are asking her for totally unnecessary (and irrelevant ) things after she has provided them with mountains of verification. I have used tin leg several times, although I have never made a claim, but not only will I never use them again, I am making sure that everyone I know who travels is warned off. Travel insurance is for that rare time you need it; a good policy is not just coverage, but the ability to make a claim in a reasonable and respectful manner when it is needed.

I didn’t get the outcome I hoped for but the explanation for why it was denied was courteous and thorough. The documentation requests felt onerous.

Required a phone interview on a recorded line. You state the facts and they will file a claim and email you for proof of documents. The representative states it takes anywhere from 5 days to 15 businesses days. They will look over the documents and they may approve or disapprove all of parts of your claim.

Tin Leg required a recorded telephone interview regarding your claim that others was just submitting your paperwork. The end result was that all documented receipts were paid and it was approved. I am happy and it is the reason I buy insurance.

As I told TinLeg, this was the worse $3,489 I've ever spent on travel in over 50 years! We booked a 2-week luxury anniversary Safari. Our start was difficult. TinLeg has rejected any flight-related claim!
Our flight from Philadelphia to Atlanta was delayed 1 hour by mechanical problem. I was assured -- 3 times -- that we would still arrive in Atlanta with time to make our connecting flight to Amsterdam. Even as we boarded the Philly-Atlanta flight I was assured that we would not miss our connecting flight. But we ended up waiting on the plane at the gate for another hour -- pilot said luggage needed to be loaded.
We missed our connection in Atlanta. The 2 hour delay extended to a 5 hour delay. AND we had purchased First/Business Class tickets...but those seats were unavailable. So we flew to Amsterdam in Economy.
In Amsterdam we missed our flight to Kilimanjaro Tanzania. Delta/KLM put us on the next flight they had available --- 24 hours later. I wasn't going to spend our first day of our Safari at the Amsterdam airport, so I booked flights on Qatar. The flight was longer, again Economy Class, but we did arrive only 12 hours after our initial schedule.
Delta responded to my complaint very quickly and reimbursed us for the missed flights. They earned our approval.
TinLeg, however, has been the "claim-refusal" company. First it took nearly 5 weeks before we talked with anyone (needed to schedule an appointment with them). Its now 2 months from our trip's first days and I finally gave up - told them they won. They are rejecting any flight-related claim (our Philly-Atlanta flight was not 3 hours late, even though we missed our connection, so no coverage!) and demanding copies of our bank statement to prove that we actually paid for a $319 first night lost lodging claim. I told them to stop processing our claim. I will never recommend TinLeg or Squaremouth to anyone -- it was a total waste of money!

Hi Robert
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand your frustration and apologize for the lengthy experience you received throughout the claims process.
I have spoken with our claims team regarding your claim. In order for Missed Connection coverage to apply, your flight must be delayed by at least 3 hours. Unfortunately, because your flight delay did not reach 3 hours, this coverage is not available.
I apologize that your claim did not have a more favorable outcome.

I had posted the incorrect dates for travel and Tin Leg was able to correct it very easily and sent me an updated policy. I would do business with SquareMouth and Tin Leg in the future and would recommend both to fellow travelers.
